October 13, 2018
Edmonton at NY Rangers 1:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers came away with their first win of the season last time out, and the Edmonton Oilers look to do the same when they visit Madison Square Garden on Saturday afternoon. New York dropped its first three contests before edging San Jose in overtime on Thursday in the opener of its three-game homestand.
Vegas at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
The Vegas Golden Knights have followed up a fairy-tale season with the early sub-plots of a nightmare, dropping three in a row while scoring two goals or fewer in each of their five contests in 2018-19. The Golden Knights bid to end a five-game road trip on a high note and avert a season sweep by the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday afternoon when the clubs meet at Wells Fargo Center.
Los Angeles at Ottawa 2:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators are dealing with a loss of manpower heading into Saturday afternoon's game against the visiting Los Angeles Kings. The Senators will need to find answers after seeing last season's co-leading goal scorer Ryan Dzingel (lower body), promising rookie forward Alex Formenton (concussion) and defenseman Cody Ceci (upper body) placed on injured reserve Friday.
Detroit at Boston 3:00 PM ET
The Boston Bruins are making a season-opening drubbing at Washington a distant memory, ripping off three decisive victories entering a Saturday matinee against the visiting Detroit Red Wings on Saturday afternoon. The Bruins have outscored opponents 14-4 during their three-game run and have a nine-game point streak against reeling Detroit (8-0-1).
Carolina at Minnesota 6:00 PM ET
The Carolina Hurricanes are one of four teams without a regulation loss in the first 10 days of the season as they embark on a three-game road trip that begins with a matchup against the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. The Hurricanes have won the last three contests while totaling 16 goals and can match the best start in franchise history since the Hartford Whalers went 4-0-1 to open the 1995-96 campaign.
Pittsburgh at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Penguins will play their first road game and will have revenge on their minds when they visit the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night. The Penguins face Montreal in a rematch from last Saturday night, when Paul Byron scored twice and set up another goal to power the Canadiens to a 5-1 rout and snap a five-game skid in the series.
Columbus at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning’s playoff run ended after being shut out in back-to-back games last season and their offense has picked up where it left off as they prepare to host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night. The Lightning managed one goal in each of the first two contests and gave up four in the third period of a 4-1 loss to Vancouver on Thursday after holding a big advantage in shots midway through the game.
Vancouver at Florida 7:00 PM ET
After beginning their six-game road trip with a pair of losses, the Vancouver Canucks attempt to post their second straight win in the Sunshine State when they visit the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Vancouver allowed a total of 12 goals in setbacks at Calgary and Carolina before recording a 4-1 victory over Tampa Bay on Thursday.
Toronto at Washington 7:00 PM ET
Auston Matthews and Morgan Rielly have replaced Hall of Famers Wayne Gretzky and Bobby Orr as the answer to specific feats in the record book, namely Matthews becoming the youngest player to notch multiple points in each of his team's first five games of a season while Rielly has the most points by a defenseman in the modern era in that same stretch. The Toronto Maple Leafs' duo looks to continue its success on Saturday against the host Washington Capitals.
NY Islanders at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators answered getting blanked in the opener of their four-game homestand by recording a shutout of their own. Fresh off his 52nd career shutout, reigning Vezina Trophy winner Pekka Rinne once again is expected to get the nod as the Predators vie for a season sweep of the visiting New York Islanders on Saturday.
Anaheim at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
The Dallas Stars hope to end their season-opening four-game homestand on a high note Saturday when they host the Anaheim Ducks. Dallas began the stretch with a pair of victories before suffering a 7-4 loss to Toronto on Tuesday.
St. Louis at Chicago 8:30 PM ET
Chicago needs all it can get from Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, and hopes its veteran stars continue their torrid scoring pace when the Blackhawks host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday. Toews boasts five goals and eight points, and Kane has four and seven - with all but one assist during 5-on-5 play - while playing on separate lines, spearheading an offense that leads the Western Conference with 18 goals en route to a 2-0-2 start.
Buffalo at Arizona 9:00 PM ET
The Arizona Coyotes avoided another long winless drought to start a season last time out and will attempt to even their record through four games when they host the improving Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. The Coyotes, who went 0-10-1 to open 2017-18, were shut out in their first two contests before pulling out a 3-2 shootout victory Wednesday at Anaheim with 23 saves from Antti Raanta.
Calgary at Colorado 10:00 PM ET
Nathan MacKinnon hasn't wasted any time validating his accomplishments from a season ago and tries to help Colorado continue its solid start when the Avalanche host the Calgary Flames on Saturday. MacKinnon, who was a Hart Trophy finalist in 2018 after recording career highs of 39 goals and 58 assists, has scored in every game this season - notching two in Thursday's 6-1 victory at Buffalo - and owns a club-high five on only 23 shots.
