Preview Roundups
March 20, 2017
Boston at Toronto 7:30 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs are holding on tight to the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, earning points in five of six games, and can solidify their position when they host the Atlantic Division-rival Boston Bruins on Monday. The Maple Leafs lost 2-1 in overtime to Chicago on Saturday but maintained a one-point lead over the New York Islanders for the second wild card.
Buffalo at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Detroit Red Wings hope to pile up some wins at home during the last days of their final campaign at Joe Louis Arena and look for their second straight when the Buffalo Sabres visit on Monday. The Red Wings, who likely will see their 25-year playoff streak end this season, improved to 14-15-5 at home by scoring four goals in the third period of Saturday's 5-1 victory over Colorado.
Arizona at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators have fallen out of third place in the Central Division but look to regain the position when they begin a three-game homestand Monday against the Arizona Coyotes. Nashville was overtaken in the division race by St. Louis after Saturday's loss in Carolina but occupies the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference.
San Jose at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks' lead in the Pacific Division has dwindled of late, but they have an opportunity to build it back up beginning with the opener of their four-game road trip Monday against the Dallas Stars. The Sharks completed a 3-3-0 homestand with back-to-back losses and saw their advantage over Anaheim shrink to four points with Saturday's 2-1 setback against the Ducks but can double it as they play two games before their rivals take the ice again.
Los Angeles at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers are on their way toward ending a 10-season playoff drought and look to strengthen their hold on a spot when they conclude their eight-game homestand Monday against the Los Angeles Kings. Edmonton, which hasn't made the postseason since reaching the Stanley Cup Final in 2006, is 4-2-1 on the string at Rogers Place after recording a 2-0 victory over Vancouver on Saturday.
