Preview Roundups
March 12, 2017
Minnesota at Chicago 12:30 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild pulled out of a downward spiral with a big victory last time out and look to extend their lead in the Central Division when they visit the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon. The Wild dropped three of four games before rallying for the final four goals to beat Florida 7-4 on Friday and lead the Blackhawks by three points in the Central.
NY Rangers at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The New York Rangers lead the Eastern Conference wild-card standings by a wide margin, so the news that goaltender Henrik Lundqvist will miss 2-to-3 weeks with a strained hip muscle is bad, but not devastating. Antti Raanta takes over the No. 1 role in net as New York completes a four-game road trip Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings, and the career backup is charged with keeping the Rangers playoff-bound.
Montreal at Edmonton 7:00 PM ET
Only a bout with the flu seems to be able to stop Montreal goaltender Carey Price these days as the former Vezina and Hart Trophy winner tries for his sixth straight victory when the Canadiens visit the Edmonton Oilers on Sunday. Price, who missed Thursday's 5-0 loss in Calgary, has posted a .978 save percentage while allowing five goals during the winning streak as Montreal continues to battle Ottawa for Atlantic Division supremacy.
Washington at Anaheim 9:30 PM ET
The league-leading Washington Capitals look to avoid coming up empty on their California trip when they wrap it up Sunday against the Anaheim Ducks. Washington has suffered three straight 4-2 losses, including setbacks at San Jose on Thursday and Los Angeles two nights later, as its lead over Pittsburgh in the race for the Presidents' Trophy has dropped to one point.
Dallas at San Jose 10:00 PM ET
While the San Jose Sharks have a bit of a cushion atop the Pacific Division, time is running out for the Dallas Stars to grab a playoff berth. The Stars, who trail St. Louis by 11 points for the second wild card in the Western Conference with 15 games remaining, look to gain ground when they visit the Sharks on Sunday.
