Preview Roundups
February 04, 2017
Washington at Montreal 1:00 PM ET
Evgeny Kuznetsov recorded multi-point performances in each of his last three games and in five of his last seven. The 24-year-old Russian looks to continue his torrid pace on Saturday afternoon as the Washington Capitals vie for a season series victory over the host Montreal Canadiens in a battle of division leaders.
Los Angeles at Philadelphia 1:00 PM ET
Jeff Carter has been the primary source of offense for the Los Angeles Kings this season, but the 32-year-old has routinely come up empty when facing off against the team that selected him in the first round of the 2003 draft. Fresh off his sixth multi-goal performance of the season, Carter looks to guide the Kings to their fifth straight victory on Saturday afternoon when they open a four-game road trip versus the Philadelphia Flyers.
Winnipeg at Colorado 3:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets finally have their first three-game winning streak of the season, but there is another streak more important to their playoff hopes entering Saturday’s visit to the Colorado Avalanche. The Jets won nine straight contests against Central Division competition, and with their next three games against division foes, there is an opportunity to crawl back into a wild-card spot.
Toronto at Boston 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs are trying to overtake Boston for third place in the Atlantic Division and have a chance to inch closer when they visit the Bruins on Saturday night. The Maple Leafs trail Boston by three points with five games in hand, but have dropped three in a row in regulation for the first time this season entering the fifth stop of a season-high six-game road trip.
Ottawa at Buffalo 7:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators stumbled out of the Christmas break by losing four consecutive one-goal decisions, but they have regained their footing heading into the finale of a three-game road trip at the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. Ottawa is 7-2-2 over its last 11 games and holds down second place in the Atlantic Division.
Anaheim at Tampa Bay 7:00 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Lightning always were able to pull themselves out of tailspins while playing deep into the playoffs the last two seasons, but the answers are deserting them in 2016-17. The Lightning, who have won only three of their 14 games since the beginning of January, look to find a spark to ignite a run when they host the playoff-bound Anaheim Ducks on Saturday.
Carolina at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
Rookie Sebastian Aho is leading the way for the Carolina Hurricanes, who will try to stay in the playoff hunt when they visit the Metropolitan Division-rival New York Islanders on Saturday. Aho scored his fourth goal in two games and 10th in 15 contests on Friday as the Hurricanes edged Edmonton 2-1 for their second straight win after a five-game losing streak.
New Jersey at Columbus 7:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets return to the comforts of home to continue their quest for the top spot in the Metropolitan Division as they host the New Jersey Devils on Saturday in their first game at Nationwide Arena in two weeks. Columbus, which trails division-leading Washington by three points, completed a 2-2-1 road trip Friday with a 4-3 setback at Pittsburgh, scoring twice in the third period to earn a point before falling in overtime.
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The St. Louis Blues' recent struggles at home have them scrambling for a wild-card spot in the Western Conference instead of battling for first place in the Central Division. But the club ended a four-game slide at Scottrade Center with Thursday's victory over Toronto and looks to make it two in a row when it concludes its three-game homestand Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Detroit at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The emergence of right wing Viktor Arvidsson and his contribution to Nashville's most productive unit are big reasons why the Predators are in playoff position as they try to snap a five-game losing streak against Detroit when they host the Red Wings on Saturday. Arvidsson, who scored eight goals in 62 career games entering this season, recorded his 13th in Thursday's 2-0 victory over Edmonton as his breakout season continues on a line with Filip Forsberg centered by Ryan Johansen.
Chicago at Dallas 8:00 PM ET
The Chicago Blackhawks will vie for their fourth victory in as many meetings with the Dallas Stars on Saturday when the Central Division rivals reconvene at American Airlines Center. Reigning Hart Trophy winner Patrick Kane has scored two goals and set up two others in the first three encounters with Dallas and increased his point total to 14 (five goals, nine assists) in his past 13 games with a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-3 victory over Arizona.
Minnesota at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Vancouver Canucks are looking to avoid losing back-to-back home games for the first time since the final week of October when they host the Central Division-leading Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. The Canucks had their eight-game point streak (7-0-1) at Rogers Arena halted in Thursday's 4-1 setback to Pacific Division front-runner San Jose.
Arizona at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks have won eight of nine to swim to the top of the Pacific, but the division's cellar dwellers have given coach Pete DeBoer's club all it can handle this season. The Sharks look to pad their lead atop the division and even their season series at two wins apiece with the Coyotes on Saturday when the teams meet at the SAP Center.
