Preview Roundups
November 13, 2017
Minnesota at Providence 6:30 PM ET
Minnesota coach Richard Pitino returns to his alma mater as the 15th-ranked Golden Gophers visit Providence on Monday night as part of the Gavitt Tipoff Games between teams from the Big Ten and Big East. Minnesota has most of its key players back from a team that won 24 games, and scored 92 points in its season opener, while the Friars put up 84 in their first game of the campaign as they begin the quest for a fifth straight NCAA Tournament berth.
Eastern Kentucky at Mississippi 6:30 PM ET

It took Ole Miss a bit of time to get going in its season opener, so it will try to click from the opening tip when it hosts Eastern Kentucky on Monday. The contest is being billed as an “Undercard Game” for the MGM Grand Main Event, which will be played from Nov. 20-22 in Las Vegas.

Montana at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
Even before an opening-season loss at Navy, Pittsburgh second-year coach Kevin Stallings knew he was facing a difficult task rebuilding his inexperienced team. With “a slew of things to work,” Stallings and his troops will look for better execution when the Panthers host Montana on Monday.
Gardner-Webb at Florida 7:00 PM ET
Seventh-ranked Florida opens the season with high expectations after coming within one victory of the Final Four in 2016-17, and looks to start on the right foot with a strong performance when Gardner-Webb pays a visit Monday night. The Gators have some early injury concerns but return leading scorer KeVaughn Allen and add two talented transfers to the mix.
Mount St. Mary's at Notre Dame 7:00 PM ET
Notre Dame opens its home regular-season schedule Monday when Mount St. Mary's of the Northeast Conference comes to town for a regional matchup of the 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational. The No. 14 Fighting Irish endured a sloppy first half before taking charge in the opening 72-58 victory over DePaul on Saturday, while the Mountaineers were handed an 80-59 loss to Marquette in their first game of the Maui Invitational.
Austin Peay at Virginia 7:00 PM ET
Virginia needed one game to remind America that it continues to be one of the nation's premier defensive teams. The Cavaliers eye a repeat performance Monday when they host Austin Peay in a non-league affair.
Central Michigan at Michigan 7:00 PM ET
Michigan hosts Central Michigan in the mainland round of the Maui Invitational on Monday. The Wolverines overcame a sluggish start to score 54 points in the second half en route to an 86-66 win against North Florida to improve to 11-0 in season openers under coach John Beilein, and hope to stay on the winning track by beating the Chippewas for the fourth time in five meetings.
Western Carolina at Cincinnati 7:00 PM ET
When a 30-point victory still has the winning coach considering an antacid, you know expectations are high. No. 13 Cincinnati looked good in its season opener, but has plenty to work on as it hosts Western Carolina on Monday night.
Morgan St. at South Florida 7:00 PM ET
South Florida hopes the momentum of a season-opening victory carries over to Monday when the Bulls host Morgan State. USF would like to avoid the drama needed to secure new head coach Brian Gregory his first win, though.
South Dakota at Bowling Green 7:00 PM ET
If there were any questions about TCU's ability to shoot 3-pointers, those have been answered. Coming off a dazzling shooting display, the Horned Frogs on Wednesday host South Dakota, which is putting up plenty of points itself.
Vanderbilt at Belmont 7:30 PM ET
Vanderbilt looks to follow up an impressive opening night performance on Monday when it travels to Belmont, as Jeff Roberson is off to a strong -- and healthy -- start to his senior season. The Commodores forward, who battled nagging injuries last season and had off-season groin surgery, was one of three Vanderbilt players to score 13 points in Friday’s 73-54 victory over Austin Peay, and he added 10 rebounds – seven on the offensive end.
Western Michigan at South Carolina 8:00 PM ET

South Carolina will raise its first Final Four banner to the rafters on Monday, but Western Michigan hopes to ensure the celebration ends there. The rebuilding Gamecocks face a tough early-season test on banner night as they host the preseason Mid-American Conference favorite Broncos in an unbracketed contest in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.

North Texas at Nebraska 8:00 PM ET
Coming off a 12-19 campaign - his worst in five seasons in Lincoln - Nebraska coach Tim Miles knew he needed somebody to step up this season after losing three starters, including All-Big Ten performer Tai Webster.  After an impressive season debut in a victory over Eastern Illinois, 6-8 sophomore Isaiah Roby will look to stuff the stat sheet again when Nebraska hosts North Texas on Monday.
St. Peter's at Northwestern 8:00 PM ET
No. 20 Northwestern will try to avoid the drama of its season opener with a more complete performance when the Wildcats host Saint Peter’s on Monday night. Northwestern, which won a school-record 24 games and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in its history last season, had to fight to the wire before outlasting pesky Loyola (Md.) for a 79-75 victory on Friday.
Southeastern Louisiana at Tulane 8:00 PM ET
Tulane got 24 points from Cameron Reynolds and reached the century mark in its season-opening win over LIU-Brooklyn. The Green Wave will be back on the court looking to go 2-0 when they host state rival Southeastern Louisiana on Monday.
Oral Roberts at Tulsa 8:00 PM ET
Tulsa looks to bounce back from a season-opening loss when it hosts Oral Roberts in a non-conference contest on Monday. The Golden Hurricane tried to rally against Lamar after falling behind by double digits in the second half but fell short, while the Golden Eagles are coming off a victory over NAIA school Avila.
Delaware State at DePaul 8:00 PM ET
DePaul will look to bounce back from its defeat at the hands of No. 14 Notre Dame when it hosts Delaware State on Monday. The Blue Demons, who went 9-23 last season, packed their new home, the 10,000-seat, $193 million Wintrust Arena in the opener but suffered a 72-58 setback Saturday.
Texas A&M CC at Baylor 8:00 PM ET
No. 24 Baylor looks to repeat the dominant performance from its season opener when it hosts Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in a non-conference contest on Monday. The Bears set a few school offensive records while blowing out Central Arkansas by 41 points, while the Islanders pulled out a last-second victory over Our Lady of the Lake.
Wis.-Milwaukee at Iowa State 8:00 PM ET
The loss of four starters has thus far proven difficult to overcome for Iowa State, which will attempt to collect its first win Monday against visiting Milwaukee. The Cyclones were outplayed in every facet of the game in their opener against Missouri, but can win their 20th straight home opener with a victory over the Panthers.
Charlotte at Oklahoma State 8:00 PM ET
Having proved it can win without its best player, Oklahoma State may get a chance to do it again Monday against visiting Charlotte. Minus Jeffrey Carroll, the Cowboys used a balanced approach on offense to win their season opener and will now get a crack at the 49ers and Jon Davis.
Rider at Xavier 8:30 PM ET
No. 17 Xavier kicked off a promising 2017-18 season with its largest margin of victory in nearly 20 years. The Musketeers look to build off Friday's 52-point laugher as they continue their campaign Monday night against visiting Rider.
Wagner at Missouri 9:00 PM ET

Even with the nation’s top recruit spending most of the night on the bench, Missouri’s revival was something to see. The resurgent Tigers will try to put on another show for the home crowd when they face Wagner on Monday.

Charleston at Wichita St. 9:00 PM ET
Eighth-ranked Wichita State hosts Charleston on Monday after its season opener produced a blowout victory and an indication that sophomore guard Landry Shamet is healthy again. The Shockers routed Missouri-Kansas City 109-57 on Friday as Shamet, who showed no evidence of offseason foot surgery, recorded 17 points -- one of six double-figure scorers for Wichita State.
Prairie View A&M at Oregon 9:00 PM ET
Oregon coach Dana Altman needs just two more wins to become the 34th Division I coach to reach 600 career wins all-time. Altman, who is currently one victory behind Oregon State's Slats Gill, the namesake of Gill Coliseum in nearby Corvallis, will try and pick up win No. 599 on Monday night when the Ducks host Prairie View A&M.
Mississippi Valley State at Utah 9:00 PM ET
Junior guard Sedrick Barefield can be a difference-maker for Utah this season and he'll try to continue proving it when the Runnin' Utes host Mississippi Valley State on Monday. Barefield, who averaged nine points in 2016-17 and is the second-highest returning scorer from last year, recorded 22 points and four assists, and was 8-for-12 from the field in Friday's season-opening 83-62 victory over Prairie View A&M.
Tennessee Tech at Texas Christian 9:00 PM ET
Jamie Dixon's team won the NIT to end the 2016-17 season and opened up the current campaign with a 10-point win, but the veteran coach was far from satisfied. Dixon hopes his TCU squad can put together a more complete effort Monday when the Horned Frogs host Tennessee Tech.
New Mexico St. at St. Mary's 10:00 PM ET
A preseason favorite for West Coast Conference player of the year, Saint Mary’s center Jock Landale’s closest competition might come from his own teammates. Landale and the 22nd-ranked Gaels look to build on an impressive season opener Monday when they face visiting New Mexico State, which won a program-record 28 games last season.
Wyoming at Oregon St. 11:00 PM ET
For a team that finished 5-27 a year ago, there is a surprising amount of positive buzz surrounding Oregon State this season. Much of the optimism can be traced to the return of forward Tres Tinkle, who looks to build on his strong season-opening performance when the Beavers face visiting Wyoming on Monday.
North Dakota State at Southern California 11:00 PM ET
With all five starters back from a team that won a school-record 26 games and advanced to the Round of 32, USC is considered a serious threat to make their first Final Four since 1954. The big question for the 11th-ranked Trojans, who host North Dakota State on Monday night, is off the court where associate head coach Tony Bland was indicted by a federal grand jury in New York last week for four charges in the FBI's sprawling college basketball bribery and corruption investigation.
