Preview Roundups
February 13, 2017
Philadelphia at Charlotte 7:00 PM ET
The Philadelphia 76ers' glut of young centers is getting thinner due to injuries and trades just as the team is finding its way back into the win column. The 76ers will go for their third consecutive victory on Monday when they visit the Charlotte Hornets, who dropped nine of their last 10 games.
San Antonio at Indiana 7:00 PM ET
The San Antonio Spurs will try for a second day in a row to secure their NBA-record 20th straight winning season when they visit the Indiana Pacers on Monday. The Spurs had a two-game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-2 on their current eight-game road stretch when they were knocked off 94-90 at New York on Sunday.
Memphis at Brooklyn 7:30 PM ET
The Memphis Grizzlies can be forgiven for struggling on the defensive end against the NBA-best Golden State Warriors, but they intend to learn from their mistakes and carry some momentum into the All-Star break. The Grizzlies will try to bounce back and earn their fourth win in five games when they visit the NBA-worst Brooklyn Nets on Monday.
Orlando at Miami 7:30 PM ET
The Miami Heat's winning streak finally came to an end on Saturday in the finale of a four-game road trip, but the team is still feeling good about itself with two games leading into the All-Star break. The Heat will try to return to the win column and continue the climb up the standings when they host the struggling Orlando Magic on Monday.
Oklahoma City at Washington 8:00 PM ET
The Oklahoma City Thunder must refocus after an emotional encounter with the NBA’s top team as they prepare to visit one of the league’s hottest squads next. The Thunder are just 3-5 over the last eight games and improving on that won’t be easy Monday night when they travel to take on the Washington Wizards, who have won 16 of their last 19 contests.
Detroit at Milwaukee 8:00 PM ET
The Detroit Pistons will try to build off one of the greatest comebacks in franchise history when they visit the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday. Trailing by 16 points to begin the fourth quarter at Toronto on Sunday, the Pistons stormed back to seize a remarkable 102-101 win on Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's 3-pointer in the waning moments.
Boston at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Boston Celtics hope to have a little more depth on the wing when they finish a four-game road trip at the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Already without guard Avery Bradley, who continues to be sidelined with an Achilles injury, the Celtics were absent forward Jae Crowder (personal) on Saturday in Utah and then lost rookie swingman Jaylen Brown (hip) in the second quarter.
Golden State at Denver 9:00 PM ET
If the NBA season ended on Sunday, the top-seeded Golden State Warriors would host the eighth-seeded Denver Nuggets in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in what would likely be a high-scoring affair, at least for one team. The Warriors will take their crack at the Nuggets' suspect defense when they visit Denver in a possible playoff preview on Monday.
L.A. Clippers at Utah 9:00 PM ET
The Utah Jazz hope to rebound after two straight uncharacteristic defensive performances when they host the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night. The Jazz lead the league in scoring defense (96.0) despite surrendering 112 in overtime loss against Dallas on Thursday and letting the Boston Celtics shoot 59.2 percent in a 112-104 setback on Saturday.
New Orleans at Phoenix 9:00 PM ET
The New Orleans Pelicans face a must-win situation in their quest to stay in the playoff hunt when they visit the Western Conference-worst Phoenix Suns on Monday night. The Pelicans followed up an impressive win at Minnesota in the opener of a four-game road trip with a 105-99 loss at Sacramento on Sunday after taking a lead into the second half and stand 3 ½ games out of eighth place in the West.
Atlanta at Portland 10:30 PM ET
The Atlanta Hawks attempt to recover from a damaging loss to begin a West Coast road trip when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday. In the opener of the three-game voyage Friday in Sacramento, the Hawks coughed up a 22-point third-quarter lead and fell 108-107 on a layup in the waning moments.
