Preview Roundups
September 29, 2017
Toronto at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees may have seen their last chance at catching the first-place Boston Red Sox slip away, blowing a three-run lead in a loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday. Assured of the top wild card, the Yankees have to decide how much effort they want to exert to catch Boston when they open a three-game series Friday against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.
Cincinnati at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs don’t need much out of their season-ending three-game series beginning Friday against the visiting Cincinnati Reds. The Cubs only need to stay healthy and get their star players enough action to remain sharp for next week’s National League Division Series.

Pittsburgh at Washington 7:05 PM ET
Washington Nationals manager Dusty Baker is liberally resting his stars in a bid to keep his team as healthy as possible as it awaits postseason play, and that includes the recently returned Bryce Harper. The 2015 National League MVP looks to draw back into the lineup on Friday as the Nationals host the Pittsburgh Pirates in the second contest of their four-game series.
NY Mets at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
While the New York Mets have been an up-and-down organization in recent years, one constant has been their dominance of the Philadelphia Phillies, who host the Mets for a season-ending three-game series starting Friday night. New York has won 11 of 16 meetings this season, is 50-23 against the Phillies since 2014 and has won six straight season series between the National League East rivals.
Atlanta at Miami 7:10 PM ET
While the Miami Marlins have an offseason of change to look forward to with a new ownership group set to take over, Giancarlo Stanton is doing everything in his power to leave his mark on the current campaign. The four-time All-Star attempts to become the sixth different player in major-league history to join the 60-homer club Friday when the Marlins host the second of four games against the struggling Atlanta Braves.
Baltimore at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Rays are limping toward the finish line and simply hope to finish on a positive note when they play a three-game season-ending series in Florida beginning Friday night. The Orioles have dropped 16 of their last 20 to clinch their first losing season since 2011 and enter the last series of the season tied with Toronto in the American League East cellar.
Houston at Boston 7:10 PM ET
The Houston Astros have been giving the scoreboard operator a workout this week, registering double-digit run performances in each of their last four games. Winners of 12 of their last 14 overall, the Astros look to keep their offense clicking on all cylinders Friday in the second contest of their four-game series versus the host Boston Red Sox.
Chi. White Sox at Cleveland 7:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians have recorded the third 100-victory season in franchise history and look to tack on another win when they host the Chicago White Sox in Friday's opener of a three-game set. The Indians joined their 1954 and 1995 squads, who won 111 and 100 contests, respectively.
Oakland at Texas 8:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics have run roughshod over their opponents with wins in 16 of their last 21 contests overall, in addition to seven straight against the Texas Rangers. The Athletics aim to improve upon both marks on Friday as the American League West rivals play the second contest of their four-game series in Arlington, Texas.
Detroit at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
Minnesota Twins right-hander Kyle Gibson owns an ugly 7.01 ERA in five starts against the Detroit Tigers this season, but he will look to win his seventh consecutive decision when the teams open a three-game series in Motown on Friday night. Gibson looks to keep his unbeaten streak intact when he faces the Tigers for the second time in eight days.
LA Dodgers at Colorado 8:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Dodgers' spot in the postseason is secure and they already wrapped up homefield advantage, making the final weekend of the regular season nothing more than a tune up. The Colorado Rockies, who host the Dodgers in the opener of a three-game series on Friday, are trying to lock up their own spot in the National League playoffs.
Arizona at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
Zack Greinke is lined up to pitch the National League wild-card game and he will tune up for that contest with his final start of the regular-season when the Arizona Diamondbacks open a three-game series at the Kansas City Royals on Friday night. Some personal milestones will be within reach, including a noteworthy one for Arizona slugger J.D. Martinez.
Milwaukee at St. Louis 8:15 PM ET
The Milwaukee Brewers trail by two games in the National League wild-card race with three games left to play and have no room for a stumble when they open the season-ending series against the host St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Milwaukee posted a pivotal 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Thursday to remain in sight of the Colorado Rockies, who possess the second wild-card spot and close the season against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Seattle at LA Angels 10:07 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels spiraled out of the American League wild-card competition and are sinking fast entering Friday's home contest against the Seattle Mariners. Los Angeles was eliminated earlier this week and has dropped nine of its past 11 games.
San Diego at San Francisco 10:15 PM ET
The San Diego Padres are limping to the finish and spent the first part of the regular season's final week getting crushed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, but at least they're not in last place. The Padres will finish out the string this weekend by visiting the last-place San Francisco Giants with a three-game set that begins Friday.
