Preview Roundups
July 09, 2017
Milwaukee at NY Yankees 1:05 PM ET
Clint Frazier is the latest Baby Bomber to wow the Yankee Stadium crowd and hopes to continue the solid start to his major league career when New York hosts the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday in the teams' final game before the All-Star break. The Yankees trailed by a run entering the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday before Frazier's three-run homer gave New York an improbable 5-3 victory and the outfielder two home runs and six RBIs in his first 20 at-bats.
Houston at Toronto 1:07 PM ET
The Toronto Blue Jays are doing their best to climb back into at least American League wild card contention with four wins in their last five games as they host the Houston Astros on Sunday in the teams' final contest before the All-Star Game. Toronto (41-46) will need plenty of production from Josh Donaldson and Troy Tulowitzki, who each homered in Saturday's 7-2 victory with Donaldson's snapping a 21-game homerless drought and Tulowitzki going deep for the second straight contest.
Boston at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays have a chance to take three of four from the visiting Boston Red Sox and match their high-water mark of the season when the American League East rivals complete their four-game series on Sunday afternoon. The Rays received a masterful pitching performance from Alex Cobb on Saturday before holding on for a 1-0 victory and can move four games over .500 with a win in the final contest before the All-Star break.
Pittsburgh at Chi. Cubs 1:10 PM ET

The All-Star break will provide a welcome reset for the Chicago Cubs, who have had a tough time gaining traction in their World Series defense. The Cubs hope to end a frustrating first half on a high note when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates for the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday.

Atlanta at Washington 1:35 PM ET
The Atlanta Braves are feeling more comfortable when they visit Washington this season and can creep closer to the National League East-leading Nationals with another road victory against them Sunday afternoon. The Braves have taken four of six in the nation's capital in 2017, including Saturday’s 13-0 rout, after a stretch in which they lost 23 of 25 games at Nationals Park.
San Diego at Philadelphia 1:35 PM ET
The San Diego Padres are going into the All-Star break strong with wins in five of their last six games. The Philadelphia Phillies, who host the Padres in the finale of a three-game, first half-closing series on Sunday, are trending in the opposite direction with five consecutive losses.
Baltimore at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles have been waiting all season for Manny Machado to break out of his slump and continue being the superstar he was last season, and he might finally be turning the corner. Machado will try to stay hot and give the Orioles some momentum heading into the All-Star break when they close the first half by visiting the Minnesota Twins on Sunday.
NY Mets at St. Louis 2:15 PM ET
The up-and-down New York Mets already guaranteed themselves a losing road trip and a record at least six games under .500 at the All-Star break. The Mets will at least try to take some good feelings into the break with a win when they visit the St. Louis Cardinals for the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday.
LA Angels at Texas 3:05 PM ET
While the Texas Rangers routinely have flexed their muscles as the weather has gotten warmer this summer, it has taken until the week leading into the All-Star break for the results to show up in the win column. The Rangers eye a fourth straight victory and look to extend their streak of multi-homer efforts to a season-high six games on Sunday, when they attempt to complete a three-game home sweep of the Los Angeles Angels.
Chi. White Sox at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies have alternated wins and losses over the first six contests of their seven-game homestand and look to continue the trend Sunday, when they host the Chicago White Sox for the rubber match of their three-game interleague series. Colorado began the stretch with a victory over Cincinnati but fell to 3-3 with Saturday's 5-4 setback against Chicago.
Miami at San Francisco 4:05 PM ET
When Johnny Cueto takes the mound Sunday for the San Francisco Giants in the finale of their three-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins, he’s sure to draw the attention of more than a few major-league scouts. Cueto could be one of several players on the move prior to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline as the last-place Giants begin to look toward next season.
Cincinnati at Arizona 4:10 PM ET
One of the most surprising stories in the major leagues this season, the Arizona Diamondbacks may need to focus their attention toward the wild-card race before long. The Diamondbacks have fallen 6 1/2 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West as they head into the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.
Kansas City at LA Dodgers 4:10 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw has gone more than two months without tasting defeat and takes a nine-game winning streak into Sunday's finale of a three-game set against the visiting Kansas City Royals. The red-hot Dodgers look to complete a three-game sweep of Kansas City and wrap up a perfect 6-0 homestand entering the All-Star break.
Oakland at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
The Seattle Mariners attempt to conclude their homestand on a high note while the visiting Oakland Athletics look to win their second straight series when the American League West rivals clash on Sunday. Seattle fell to 1-5 during its seven-game string at home when it dropped a 4-3 decision on Saturday, which was Oakland's second victory over the first three contests of the four-game series.
Detroit at Cleveland 8:05 PM ET
Corey Kluber and Michael Fulmer were each selected to the American League All-Star team but neither right-hander will be available to pitch in Tuesday's game against the National League. That's because both standout pitchers will be on the mound Sunday night when the Cleveland Indians host the Detroit Tigers in the finale of a three-game series.
