Make-up dates are piling up for the Cleveland Indians and the host Detroit Tigers, who face off in a day-night doubleheader on Saturday at Comerica Park due to a game that was rained out on May 4. The expected start of the four-game series on Friday was postponed due to rain and was rescheduled for Sept. 1, giving the Tigers one less chance to move up the standings at the expense of the division-leading Indians.

It figures to a surreal day at the ballpark for Chicago White Sox left-hander Derek Holland, who faces his former Texas Rangers' teammates for the first time on Saturday in the middle contest of the three-game series. Holland spent eight seasons with the Rangers before signing with the White Sox during the offseason.

The Kansas City Royals entered June eight games under .500 and can climb into second place in the American League Central on the first day of July as they host the Minnesota Twins for a day-night doubleheader on Saturday. Eric Hosmer launched a three-run homer as Kansas City took the series opener 8-1 on Friday, moving within one game of the Twins for second in the division and three behind first-place Cleveland.

After losing two games at San Diego, the Atlanta Braves got back on track in a big way heading into Saturday’s middle contest of a three-game series at the Oakland A’s. Mike Foltynewicz took a no-hitter into the ninth inning as the Braves stifled Oakland’s offense in a 3-1 victory, the ninth victory in 13 games for Atlanta to pull the Braves within 8 ½ games of first-place Washington in the National League East.

The San Francisco Giants have been one of the major leagues’ most disappointing teams thus far, but they’ve shown signs of turning things around. The Giants aim to match their season high with a fifth consecutive victory when they play the second contest of their three-game road series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria mostly for his defensive prowess, but he is providing quite a lift with the bat through the first four games with his new club. The New York Mets can secure their third straight series victory when they host the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday in the continuation of a three-game set. After finishing a 10-game road trip with five wins in their final six contests, the Mets rode a seven-inning gem by Jacob deGrom to a 2-1 triumph over the Phillies to begin the series Friday.

Stephen Vogt looks as if he will fit in just fine with the homer-happy Milwaukee Brewers, who will try to win their third straight when they host the Miami Marlins on Saturday in the middle contest of a three-game series. Vogt, an All-Star behind the plate for Oakland in 2015 and 2016, was designated for assignment last week after batting .217 in 54 games with the Athletics.
