Preview Roundups
May 07, 2017
Miami at NY Mets 1:10 PM ET
The New York Mets spent the better part of April frustrated about their inability to score runs before watching the bats explode over the last 10 days. The Mets will try to keep the hits coming and polish off a three-game sweep when they host the Miami Marlins in the series finale on Sunday.
Toronto at Tampa Bay 1:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays look to win their second home series of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays when the American League East rivals meet for the rubber match of a three-game set Sunday afternoon. The Rays rebounded after coughing up two leads to lose the series opener by rolling to a 6-1 victory on Saturday as first baseman Logan Morrison remained hot with his team-leading seventh homer.
Chi. White Sox at Baltimore 1:35 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles are winners of three straight and five of their last seven, and will try to finish off a three-game sweep when they host the Chicago White Sox in the series finale on Sunday. The Orioles are getting strong starting pitching of late and will welcome back ace Chris Tillman in the finale.
Milwaukee at Pittsburgh 1:35 PM ET
The Pittsburgh Pirates have managed to stifle the big bats of the visiting Milwaukee Brewers and can claim a series sweep when the teams wrap up their three-game set at PNC Park on Sunday. The Brewers entered the series with the third-most runs (148) in the National League but they have been limited to one in a span of 19 innings over the first two games.
St. Louis at Atlanta 1:35 PM ET
The St. Louis Cardinals aim for their first series sweep on the road this year when they cap a three-game set at the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. After rolling to their first shutout win (10-0) in the opener of the series, the Cardinals used home runs from Matt Carpenter and Matt Adams along with solid pitching to post a 5-3 triumph Saturday.
Boston at Minnesota 2:10 PM ET
After scoring 10 runs in their previous three games, the Boston Red Sox shuffled their lineup a bit Saturday and needed to wait less than two innings to watch it pay off. A repeat of the Red Sox's season-best run total against the host Minnesota Twins seems unlikely Sunday, however, as they attempt to become the first team to solve Ervin Santana in the rubber match of their three-game series.
Cleveland at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians hope to draw some momentum from a late rally in the middle contest of the series as they visit the Kansas City Royals on Sunday for the rubber match of their three-game set. Jason Kipnis’ two-out RBI single tied it in the eighth before Carlos Santana and Francisco Lindor belted back-to-back solo homers with two outs in the ninth inning to give the Indians a 3-1 victory Saturday.
Washington at Philadelphia 2:35 PM ET
Not having Bryce Harper in the middle of the lineup hasn't hurt the Washington Nationals offense this weekend. The Nationals will try to ride the hot bats of Ryan Zimmerman and Anthony Rendon to a series sweep when they visit the Philadelphia Phillies in the finale of a three-game series on Sunday.
Arizona at Colorado 3:10 PM ET
The Colorado Rockies hope to have Carlos Gonzalez back in the lineup Sunday as they host the Arizona Diamondbacks for the rubber match of their three-game series. Gonzalez, who is hitting only .200 this season, has missed two straight contests due to cramping in his right calf.
Houston at LA Angels 3:37 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels are being understandably cautious with star center fielder Mike Trout, who has missed two of the last three games because of tightness in his left hamstring. Trout is listed as day-to-day heading into Sunday’s rubber match of a three-game series against the visiting Houston Astros, who have opened with a 16-6 mark against American League West rivals.
Detroit at Oakland 4:05 PM ET
The Oakland Athletics showed resiliency in posting a series-tying victory and hope to carry the momentum into Sunday's finale of their three-game set against the Detroit Tigers. Oakland trailed by three runs in Saturday's contest before rallying for a 6-5 victory that evened the series.
San Francisco at Cincinnati 4:10 PM ET

The Cincinnati Reds have put a beating on the visiting San Francisco Giants in the first two contests of their three-game set, and they can make history by doing it again in Sunday’s finale. The Reds have won the first two games by at least 10 runs, marking the first time they have won back-to-back games by that margin since 1976 and only the second time they have down so since at least 1913.

Texas at Seattle 4:10 PM ET
In need of a starting pitcher, the Seattle Mariners are reaching into their bullpen for Sunday’s rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Texas Rangers, who have lost six of their last nine. Injuries to Felix Hernandez, James Paxton and Drew Smyly have forced the Mariners to turn to reliever Dillon Overton on Sunday, and there’s a chance the team could need another spot starter on Tuesday.
LA Dodgers at San Diego 4:40 PM ET
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts may have entered this week under the impression Cody Bellinger was headed back to the minors, but the 21-year-old is only strengthening his case as to why he should stay right where he is. The red-hot first baseman looks to continue tormenting the host San Diego Padres on Sunday, when the Dodgers attempt to complete their second sweep in three series.
NY Yankees at Chi. Cubs 8:05 PM ET

Starlin Castro has enjoyed his return to Wrigley Field, and he and his New York Yankees teammates have a chance to wrap up a three-game sweep of the host Chicago Cubs on Sunday. Castro was 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs in Saturday’s 11-6 win, helping the Yankees claim their fourth straight victory and maintain their half-game lead over Baltimore in the American League East.
