Preview Roundups
April 19, 2017
Pittsburgh at St. Louis 1:45 PM ET
Andrew McCutchen is riding a nine-game hitting streak and is back in center field due to a serious misstep by teammate Starling Marte. McCutchen and the Pittsburgh Pirates attempt to prevent a three-game sweep in Wednesday's series finale against the host St. Louis Cardinals one day after Marte was suspended 80 games without pay for testing positive for the performance-enhancing substance Nandrolone.
Milwaukee at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

The Chicago Cubs have done their best to carry the thrill of last October’s historic World Series run into April, as nine of their first 14 games have been decided by fewer than three runs. The latest was a comeback victory that set up the rubber match of their three-game series against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon.

Texas at Oakland 3:35 PM ET
All it took was one big inning for the Oakland Athletics to put an end to their four-game losing streak. Oakland attempts to win consecutive games for the second time this season when it hosts the Texas Rangers for the rubber match of their three-game series on Wednesday.
Miami at Seattle 3:40 PM ET
Felix Hernandez attempts to follow up his best outing of the season with another victory when the Seattle Mariners host the Miami Marlins for the finale of their three-game series on Wednesday afternoon. Hernandez defeated Texas on Friday, when he allowed one run and six hits in 7 1/3 innings.
Chi. White Sox at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Avisail Garcia is providing quite the bang for his buck after signing a one-year deal worth $3.5 million deal in the offseason. After his three-run homer paved the way for the Chicago White Sox to even the set at one win apiece, Garcia looks to help his team conclude a nine-game road trip with a series victory over the New York Yankees on Wednesday.
Boston at Toronto 7:07 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox will try to continue their hot streak and extend the host Toronto Blue Jays' misery when the teams continue a three-game series Wednesday night. A 15-hit attack led the Red Sox to an 8-7 victory in Tuesday's series opener - their fourth straight win - and dropped the reeling Blue Jays to an MLB-worst 2-11.
Baltimore at Cincinnati 7:10 PM ET
Adam Duvall and the Cincinnati Reds broke out of a mini-slump in a big way and the former looks to help the latter claim an interleague series victory over the visiting Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Mired in an 0-for-13 stretch, Duvall belted his first career grand slam and matched a personal best with five RBIs in Tuesday's 9-3 rout at Great American Ball Park.
Detroit at Tampa Bay 7:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays hope to continue their strong play at Tropicana Field when they host the Detroit Tigers for the second of a three-game series Wednesday night. The Rays started the season by winning five of seven at home before going 1-6 on a road trip through New York and Boston, but returned to their stadium to record a 5-1 triumph against the Tigers on Tuesday.
Philadelphia at NY Mets 7:10 PM ET
The New York Mets have found themselves on the wrong end of some late-inning heroics during their season-high four-game skid. After getting swept over the weekend on their foe's final at-bat, the Mets look to rebound from a four-run 10th inning in a 6-2 setback when they play the second contest of a three-game series versus the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday.
Washington at Atlanta 7:35 PM ET
The Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves 15 times in 19 meetings a season ago, and entering the middle game of a three-game set on Wednesday in Atlanta look to continue their dominance of their National League East rival. The Nationals used strong starting pitching from Max Scherzer and two hits each from Bryce Harper and Ryan Zimmerman to capture Tuesday’s series opener, 3-1.
LA Angels at Houston 8:10 PM ET
The Los Angeles Angels' offensive funk lasted six games before Albert Pujols knocked the lineup out of its slumber. The Angels will try to take the lead in the four-game series when they visit the Houston Astros for the third meeting on Wednesday.
Cleveland at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Cleveland Indians made it to extra innings in the seventh game of the World Series last season but might be even better in 2017, if only because shortstop Francisco Lindor keeps improving. Lindor will try to lead the Indians to a series win when they visit the Minnesota Twins for the third of a four-game set on Wednesday.
San Francisco at Kansas City 8:15 PM ET
Madison Bumgarner should be able to conjure up some happy memories when he takes the mound for the San Francisco Giants at the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday. Bumgarner earned the MVP of the 2014 World Series by allowing one run in 21 innings against the Royals, including five scoreless frames to close out the clinching Game 7.
Colorado at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Clayton Kershaw, who had a 10-game winning streak against Colorado halted earlier this month, attempts to start a new stretch of success when the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Rockies for the finale of their two-game series on Wednesday. Kershaw served up three homers on April 8 in a 4-2 loss - his first setback against Colorado since July 12, 2013.
Arizona at San Diego 10:10 PM ET
Last season's hype may have been a year premature for the Arizona Diamondbacks, who now appear ready to meet those high expectations. The Diamondbacks aim for their fourth straight victory Wednesday as they continue their three-game series against the host San Diego Padres, who have lost five in a row.
