Bo Horvat scored the go-ahead goal with 13:49 left in the third period as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the host Florida Panthers 3-2 on Saturday night.

Horvat, skating on the left side, took a nifty backhand, cross-ice pass from Sven Baertschi before scoring his third goal of the season.

Florida has yet to earn a win in three games this season. The Panthers are 0-for-12 on the power play during that span.

Backup goalie Anders Nilsson made 24 saves and won his second straight game. He also beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1 on Thursday night.

Panthers backup goalie James Reimer, subbing for the injured Roberto Luongo, took the loss, making 27 saves.

Elias Pettersson and Antoine Roussel also scored for Vancouver. Pettersson, who turns 20 next month and was the fifth overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft, blasted home a wrist shot. Roussel's goal came on a penalty shot.

Jonathan Huberdeau and Vincent Trocheck scored for Florida. It was the first goal of the season for both. Last season, Trocheck led the Panthers with 31 goals, and Huberdeau had 27. Both were career highs.

After a scoreless opening period, the horn sounded four times in the second, with each team getting a pair of goals.

Florida opened the scoring with 12:31 expired in the second as Huberdeau's first shot was blocked before he pounced on his own rebound and scored.

One minute later, however, Florida's Troy Brouwer was penalized for hooking, and Vancouver capitalized with its fifth power-play goal in five games.

Pettersson got the goal with a lethal wrist shot, which beat Reimer high to the glove side.

Florida took a 2-1 lead on a furious one-timer by Trocheck, who took a pass from Keith Yandle. Mike Hoffman, acquired from the Ottawa Senators in the offseason, got the secondary assist for his first point as a member of the Panthers.

Roussel tied it 2-2 with just 1:45 left in the period after he was hooked from behind by defenseman Bogdan Kiselevich. Roussel, denied a clear chance on that breakaway, beat Reimer under his left arm on the penalty shot.
