Sebastian Aho's second goal 2:57 into overtime lifted the Carolina Hurricanes to a 5-4 victory against the host Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes have matched their best five-game start in franchise history with a 4-0-1 record.

Justin Williams' goal -- the captain's first of the season -- with 1:09 remaining in regulation forced overtime. Aho picked up his second assist of the night on the tally.

Jordan Staal and Brett Pesce also scored for the Hurricanes. Williams and Pesce assisted on the winning goal.

Mikael Granlund's first goal of the season with 4:13 to play in regulation gave the Wild a 4-3 lead.

Charlie Coyle, Jared Spurgeon and Jason Zucker also scored for Minnesota, which has not lost in regulation in three home outings.

Carolina goalie Curtis McElhinney stopped 19 shots.

Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk made 52 saves.

Staal's goal came when the puck went off his knee for the opening score 8:12 into the first period. He has a goal in four of the team's five games.

Carolina held a 14-2 edge in shots barely 13 minutes into the game. The shot margin was 20-5 through the first period and increased to 36-9 after two periods.

Despite the gap in shots, the Wild pulled even late in the opening period on Coyle's power-play goal. Coyle's first goal of the season came on a rebound.

It wasn't until Carolina's 32nd shot that it gained its second goal when Pesce converted with 4:47 to play in the second period. His redirection of Aho's feed marked his second goal of the season.

Aho has a five-game points streak to begin the season, becoming the fifth player to do so since the franchise relocated to North Carolina for the 1997-98 campaign.

Again, the Wild tied the game, this time with Spurgeon's backhanded shot finding the net shortly after a power play expired just 1:20 into the third period. It was his first goal of the season.

Zucker's go-ahead goal came on a power play 5:41 into the third period. That gave the Wild three goals on 13 shots.

Aho's tying power-play goal came on a long rebound with 10:38 to play in regulation.
