Roman Josi scored at 2:13 of overtime to lift the host Nashville Predators to a 3-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Luke Evangelista left a pass for Josi high in the zone, and the Predators captain took it to the high slot.
Ryan O'Reilly scored twice, Josi added an assist and Filip Forsberg and Evangelista each had two assists for the Predators, who have won three of their past four games. Juuse Saros made 33 saves.
William Nylander and Mark Giordano scored, and Ilya Samsonov made 21 saves for the Maple Leafs, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
Nylander connected on the power play to give Toronto a 1-0 lead at 13:32 of the first period. After reaching his stick out above the slot to keep the puck in the zone, Auston Matthews sent a short pass to Mitch Marner to his right. Marner quickly returned it to Matthews, who then dished it over to Nylander for the one-timer from the left face-off dot.
The goal, Nylander's sixth of the season, extended his season-opening point streak to eight games, tying John Anderson (1982-83), Lanny McDonald (1976-77) and Frank Mahovlich (1961-62) for the longest in Maple Leafs history.
O'Reilly tied it 1-1 with a power-play goal of his own at 15:05. As the Predators cycled, O'Reilly brought a pass from Forsberg deep into the zone before giving it to Josi, who sent it back to O'Reilly at the goal line. The former Maple Leafs forward took it to the front short side, beating Samsonov five-hole.
The Maple Leafs spent nearly a minute in the offensive zone just past the halfway point of the period, and it paid off when Giordano put Toronto back in front at 12:46. Saros tried to corral a puck in the crease, but a pinching Giordano was on the doorstep to poke it in.
O'Reilly tied it again on the power play at 15:08, his fourth goal of the season. Evangelista sent a cross-ice pass to Forsberg at the top of the left circle, and Forsberg sent a shot-pass to O'Reilly for the redirect.
