Senators 3, Capitals 1: Craig Anderson stopped 34 shots as host Ottawa beat Washington for the sixth straight time.

Kyle Turris scored the game-winner early in the second period, Mika Zibanejad had a first-period tally and Clarke MacArthur added an empty-netter for the Senators, who have won three of four.

Joel Ward's first-period goal provided the lone offense for the Capitals, who have dropped four of five. Philipp Grubauer made 35 saves in defeat.

Ward opened the scoring at 2:11, jostling for position in front of the Ottawa net before sliding a backhander past Anderson's outstretched pad. Zibanejad drew the Senators even with 6:11 left in the period, completing a 2-on-1 rush by tapping a feed from Cory Conacher into a wide-open net.

Turris put Ottawa in front with a terrific individual effort at 3:14 of the second, gathering a pass from Bobby Ryan before splitting the Washington defensemen, deking Grubauer to the ice and sliding the puck past him. Anderson preserved the lead through a Washington power play just before the midway point of the third, and MacArthur iced it with his 12th of the season in the final minute.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington fell to 13-6-0 when scoring first, while the Senators improved to 8-15-4 when allowing the opening goal. ... Washington LW Alex Ovechkin was held without a goal for the fourth straight game, his longest dry spell of the season. ... Zibanejad's first-period tally ended his 12-game goalless drought.
