Islanders 2, Bruins 1: Josh Bailey recorded his fifth career two-goal performance and Evgeni Nabokov turned aside 30 shots as visiting New York improved to 8-1-1 in its last 10 contests.
Captain Mark Streit notched a pair of assists for the Islanders, who secured just their third win in 12 outings versus Boston. New York remained even in points with sixth-place Ottawa in the Eastern Conference and two ahead of the Atlantic Division-rival Rangers.
Tyler Seguin scored a power-play goal while Jaromir Jagr and Gregory Campbell each picked up an assist to extend their respective point streaks to three games. Tuukka Rask finished with 34 saves as the Bruins fell one point behind Montreal for the top spot in the Northeast Division.
Bailey gave New York a 2-1 lead with 6:48 remaining in the second period as his wrist shot from the left faceoff circle trickled past Rask and just over the goal line.
Bailey opened the scoring with 21 seconds remaining in the first period, when he stepped into Streit's drop pass and blasted a shot from above the left circle. Seguin forged a 1-1 tie 3:41 into the second by one-timing a cross-slot feed from the lower edge of the left circle.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Boston LW Brad Marchand is dealing with a mild concussion as a result of the hit delivered by New Jersey D Anton Volchenkov during Wednesday's game. He sat out on Thursday. ... Islanders D Travis Hamonic appeared to injure his left knee after being tripped by Bruins C David Krejci midway through the first period. After needing assistance to get off the ice, Hamonic returned later in the session. ... Jagr has one goal and five assists since being acquired from Dallas at the trade deadline.
