Coyotes 3, Kings 1: Defenseman Keith Yandle recorded his second career two-goal performance as host Phoenix posted its second win in 10 games (2-5-3).
Matthew Lombardi scored the game-winner, Kyle Chipchura notched two assists and Jason LaBarbera made 39 saves for the Coyotes, who climbed within two points of idle St. Louis for the eighth and final playoff berth in the Western Conference.
Justin Williams extended his goal-scoring streak to four games and Jonathan Quick stopped 28 shots for Los Angeles, which concluded a 3-1-1 road trip. The Kings remained one point behind idle Vancouver for fourth place in the West.
Yandle, who also scored twice against Detroit on Jan. 26, 2010, opened the scoring at 11:02 of the first period with his 50th career goal. Chipchura made a backhand pass from the left side of the net to Yandle, who pinched in from the point and beat Quick from the low slot.
Williams forged a tie 70 seconds later as his shot from along the right-wing boards caromed off Phoenix defenseman Michael Stone and into the net. But Lombardi received a feed from Rob Klinkhammer while streaking down the slot and slid a backhander past Quick at 11:05 of the second to snap the tie and Yandle scored from a bad angle with 2:53 left in the third to seal the win.
