Mike McGuirl scored 16 points as Kansas State ended a 13-game losing streak with a 62-54 road victory over TCU on Saturday at Fort Worth, Texas.

The Wildcats' single-season school-record losing skid began following a nonconference victory Dec. 29 against Omaha.

Kansas State was coming off its lowest scoring game since 1998 when it fell to Kansas 59-41 Wednesday night. Saturday marked the first game against an unranked opponent this month for Kansas State.

It was just the second loss this season for TCU against a team with a NET ranking of 44 or worse. The Horned Frogs are now 10-2 in non-quadrant 1 games.

The WIldcats (6-18, 2-13 Big 12) avoided tying the longest losing streak in program history. A pair of 14-game losing skids came over multiple seasons: 1921-22 and 1922-23.

Kansas State also received 12 points from Nijel Pack and 10 from Davion Bradford.

The Horned Frogs (11-9, 4-7 Big 12) were led by R.J. Nembhard with 14 points and Mike Miles with 13.

The game was close throughout. There were 17 ties in the game, and neither team led by more than five points until McGuirl's second free throw with 30.2 seconds left gave the Wildcats a 60-54 lead.

Kansas State went on a 10-0 run late in the second half to turn a 51-46 deficit into a 56-51 lead.

One game after they finished 3 of 24 from 3-point range against Kansas, the Wildcats finished 5 of 14 from long range Saturday, with none bigger than Pack's 3-pointer that tied the score at 51-51 with 4:16 remaining.

The first half set the course for the game. McGuirl hit a layup with eight seconds left to tie the score at 29-all heading into the break.

McGuirl, who was held to a season-low two points against Kansas, hit double-figures at the 7:05 mark, giving Kansas State an 18-16 lead. He finished with 12 points in the half. He was the only Wildcats player with more than five points.

TCU was led by Nembhard with eight points in the first half. Kevin Samuel had five points and four rebounds.
