Florida State opened up the 2017-18 season Tuesday night with a convincing 87-67 victory against George Washington at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee, Fla .

Guard Terance Mann led the Seminoles (1-0) with 17 points and eight rebounds, while forward Phil Cofer added 15 points in the victory.

George Washington (1-1), which was playing its second game of the season, trailed from the outset and never got closer than nine points in the second half. The Seminoles rolled to a 50-32 lead at intermission behind 10 early points from Mann and nine points from Cofer.

George Washington was led by guards Terry Nolan Jr. and Jair Bolden with 18 points each, followed by guard Yuta Watanabe with 14 points and eight rebounds. Colonials forward Arnaldo Toro added 10 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Seminoles had three other players in double figures Tuesday: center Christ Koumadje with 14 points, seven boards and five blocks; guard CJ Walker with 12 points; and center Mfiondu Kabengele with 10 points.

Florida State won its fifth straight season opener. The game marked the fourth meeting between the Colonials and Seminoles, who now lead the all-time series 4-0. They also played last season with Florida State winning at the BB&T Classic in Washington D.C. 67-48.

Florida State won both its exhibition games to start the season, defeating Central Missouri 116-68 on Oct. 26 and Thomas University 122-52 on Nov. 7.

Florida State opened the year with a 21-game home winning streak -- fifth-longest in the nation. The Seminoles were undefeated at home during the 2016-17 season.

The Seminoles play their next game Friday against Fordham in Jamaica as part of the Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay.

George Washington returns home and will host Hampton next on Friday.
