NEWARK, N.J. -- Seton Hall coach Kevin Willard maintains he doesn't enjoy going up against fellow New Jersey schools, even though the record speaks otherwise.

Led by 18 points from Myles Powell, the 23d-ranked Pirates dominated another team from the Garden State, knocking off Monmouth 75-65 at the Prudential Center on Sunday.

Seton Hall (2-0) hasn't lost to the Hawks (1-1) in 13 all-time meetings and posted its third straight double-digit victory in the series.

On Friday Willard's senior-laden team rolled over Fairleigh Dickinson, 90-68, to take a commanding 19-4 series lead with that in-state school. The Pirates have NJIT and St. Peter's next month, two more Jersey schools Seton Hall has shown success against.

"I hate these games," Willard said. "Losing one of these games, in my position, is a killer for me. I slept terrible last night, I think I grind guys way too much.

"It's just trying to get them to understand the mentality of the Monmouth side, the St. Peter's side, because I know how good their players are. The coaches in this state are really good coaches. Keeping your guys on edge is one of the hardest things about playing these local teams."

Seton Hall center Angel Delgado recorded the 52d double-double of his career, scoring 17 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Khadeen Carrington was smooth in his second game at point guard for Seton Hall, scoring 14 points with four assists and just one turnover. The senior from Brooklyn, N.Y., was the shooting guard in the previous three seasons.

However, he's made only 10 of 26 shots in two games.

"He's (Carrington) in such a different role right now," Willard said of Carrington's switch. "He's missing shots right now because he's not used to the load he's carrying. Once we get four or five games, he will start making shots."

The Pirates maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half, limiting Monmouth to just 6 of 20 (30 percent) from the floor. The Hawks shot 42 percent for the game and committed 21 turnovers, leading to 22 Seton Hall points.

"I've watched Kevin (Willard) continue to build this program," Monmouth coach King Rice said. "I try to explain to my kids you can play against a high major program, but when you get to the ranked teams in the country, it's a different animal.

"This team (Seton Hall) is solid. Their guards are good, their bigs are good. They're sharing the ball. There are no cracks."

Deion Hammond topped the Hawks with 17 points and Micah Seaborn added 16 points.

Michael Nzei's lay-in increased the Seton Hall lead to 55-35 early in the second half.

A dunk from Delgado with 59 seconds left in the half gave the Pirates their biggest lead, 48-32, of the first half.

Seton Hall's 11-0 burst moved its lead to 37-25, with Powell contributing consecutive 3-pointers. He ignited the Pirates in the first half with 13 points in 14 minutes.

A 7-0 run enabled the Pirates to forge ahead 22-16 with 9:05 to play in the first half.
