No. 16 UCLA combined a clean offensive performance, committing just four turnovers and shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, while stifling No. 20 Maryland defensively en route to an 87-60 blowout of the Terrapins on Wednesday in College Park, Maryland.
The Bruins (9-2) scored the game's first seven points, pushed their lead to 26-7 by the under 8-minute timeout of the first half, and led by as many as 38 points in the wire-to-wire rout.
David Singleton connected on his first seven field-goal attempts off the bench, finishing with a season-high 18 points.
Singleton also accounted for each of UCLA's first four made 3-point attempts, shooting 4-of-5 overall from deep -- though the Bruins needed little production from beyond the arc thanks to a 44-16 advantage scoring in the paint.
Jaylen Clark effectively attacked the rim on the way to a game-high 19 points.
Jaime Jaquez Jr. added 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for UCLA, while freshman big man Adem Bona chipped in another seven rebounds, matching Jaquez's game-high, along with 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor.
The win marked UCLA's sixth straight, while Maryland (8-3) dropped its third straight. All three losses came to currently Top 25-ranked opponents, though Wednesday's defeat was the first by a double-digit-point margin.
Ian Martinez led the Terps with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting off the bench.
The Terrapins committed 16 turnovers, which UCLA converted into 19 points. Donta Scott was the lone Maryland starter to score in double figures with 12 points, who also matched Hakim Hart with a team-high six rebounds.
The offensive woes of the Maryland starting five included a 0-of-8 shooting performance from the floor out of Jahmir Young, who came into Wednesday's game averaging 15.6 points per game. He finished with three points against UCLA.
