Dayton 73, Auburn 63: Kevin Dillard led the way with 20 points as the Flyers turned aside the Tigers in the fifth-place game of the Charleston (S.C.) Classic.

Dillard left the game with 11 minutes remaining with a knee bruise, but the Flyers (3-1) were in control. The senior guard scored five more points when he returned and made 12-of-14 from the free-throw line overall.

Frankie Sullivan scored 23 points and had five assists and Rob Chubb added 11 to lead the Tigers (2-2), who pulled within six in the second half.

Jalen Robinson and Devin Oliver added 12 points each for Dayton.

Sullivan’s 3-pointer gave Auburn its last lead before Dayton finished the first half on a 13-2 run – including six points by Devon Scott – for a 35-25 halftime lead. Dillard led the way with nine points for the Flyers, who forced 10 turnovers in the opening 20 minutes.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dayton had a 31-24 edge on the boards, led by Robinson’s seven. … Auburn made just 4-of-16 from 3-point range. … The Tigers play next at Boston College on Wednesday and Dayton hosts Manhattan on Saturday.
