Georgia 68, Jacksonville 62: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 17 points as the host Bulldogs overcame a sluggish performance to win their season opener.

Nemanja Djurisic added 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulldogs.

Keith McDougald scored 13 points for the Dolphins, who shot 37.7 percent from the field.

Georgia started the game with a 14-4 run to open up some breathing room. Tim Dixon scored all four points of his points during the run, his breakaway dunk with 13:02 remaining in the first half giving the Bulldogs a 10-point advantage.

Georgia led by 10 points with less than three minutes to play, but the Dolphins pulled within four points at 66-62 on Jarvis Haywood’s layup with 45 seconds left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Georgia hosts Youngstown State on Monday, the second of a three-game homestand. … Georgia freshman Kenny Gaines scored two points on free throws, finishing 0-for-4 from the field. … Jacksonville finished 2-for-14 from 3-point range.
