Georgia Tech cruised to a 30-point halftime lead and never was threatened on the way to a 78-51 win over Albany, Wednesday at the Alexander Memorial Coliseum in Atlanta.
Both teams had nearly identical shooting percentages, with Georgia Tech firing 46.4 percent from the field (32-for-69) while Albany was at 45.5 percent (20-for-44). The difference in the game was Albany (0-3) coughed up 25 turnovers, which led to 32 points for the Ramblin Wreck (2-1). In contrast, Albany mustered just four points off Georgia Tech’s miscues.
Guard Iman Shumpert paced Georgia Tech with 24 points and 10 rebounds, and guard Mdon Udofia and center Daniel Miller chipped in 10 points each.
For the Great Danes, guards Tim Ambrose and Logan Aronhalt had 16 and 14 points, respectively.
