Curtis Jones came off the bench to score 19 points and drain a handful of 3-pointers and No. 6 Iowa State marched to a 100-58 win over Jackson State on Sunday evening in Ames, Iowa.
Jones made 6 of 12 shots from the field and 5 of 10 shots from beyond the arc for the Cyclones (7-1). Milan Momcilovic finished with 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting, including a 4-for-6 mark from 3-point range.
Dorian McMillian scored 20 points to lead Jackson State (0-10). Juan Reyna III finished with 15 points and a team-high six assists.
Iowa State shot 50.7 percent (34 of 67) overall and 39.3 percent (11 of 28) from beyond the arc. The Cyclones made 21 of 29 attempts from the free-throw line for a 72.4 percent success rate.
Jackson State shot 37 percent (20 of 54) from the field and 31.8 percent (7 of 22) from long distance. The Tigers made 11 of 13 free throws, which was good for 84.6 percent.
Iowa State won its fourth game in a row since its only loss of the season, a two-point setback against then-No. 4 Auburn at the Maui Invitational in Hawaii.
The Cyclones had a 46-24 lead at the half on Sunday.
Jones made a 3-pointer to put Iowa State on top by 25 points, 46-21, with 51 seconds remaining in the first half.
McMillian responded with a trey of his own on the next possession to trim the gap to 46-24.
The second half featured more dominance from Iowa State, which increased its lead to 64-31 with 14:04 to go. The Cyclones grabbed the 33-point lead after an 11-0 run that included a 3-pointer by Keshon Gilbert, two free throws by Joshua Jefferson, a 3-pointer by Momcilovic and a layup and a free throw by Gilbert.
Dishon Jackson converted a three-point play for Iowa State to make it 82-41 with 9:38 remaining.
JT Rock lifted Iowa State to the century mark in the final minute. His layup with 32 seconds to go gave the Cyclones a 100-58 advantage, and that proved to be the final basket after a turnover by Jackson State on the following possession.
