Wizards 102, Pacers 79: Marcin Gortat collected postseason career highs of 31 points and 16 rebounds as Washington dominated the interior and crushed host Indiana in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Gortat went 13-of-15 from the field and nearly outrebounded the Pacers by himself as the Wizards piled up a 62-23 advantage on the glass. John Wall added 27 points, five rebounds and five assists and Bradley Beal scored 18 for Washington, which will host Game 6 on Thursday.

David West scored 17 points but Paul George was held to 15 on 5-of-15 shooting as Indiana had its lead in the series trimmed to 3-2. Roy Hibbert battled foul trouble and was limited to four points and three boards while Lance Stephenson scored nine points for the Pacers.

Gortat collected 17 points and 11 boards in the first half to help the Wizards take a 45-38 lead into the break. Wall hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points in the third quarter as Washington turned the game into a rout, pushing the advantage to 76-52 heading into the fourth.

Gortat converted a three-point play to begin the final stanza and Beal’s 3-pointer with 7:22 left extended the advantage to 89-60 as the Wizards cruised. Indiana pulled its final three starters just before the deficit hit 30 points with 5:45 remaining.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Washington is bidding to become the ninth team in NBA history to recover from a 3-1 series deficit. … Gortat had 16 rebounds by the end of the third quarter while the Pacers recorded just 15 at that point. … The Pacers shot 39 percent from the floor and missed nine of 22 free-throw attempts.
