Rhys Hoskins snapped a tie with a two-out, two-run double off Kyle Finnegan in the ninth inning to lift the Philadelphia Phillies past the host Washington Nationals 7-6 on Thursday.

J.T. Realmuto hit a two-run double with two outs in the ninth to tie the game at 5. Hoskins finished with three hits while Bryce Harper homered for the Phillies. Odubel Herrera added two hits for the Phillies, who swept the Nationals in the four-game series and won their fifth in a row.

The Phillies are just half a game behind the New York Mets in the National League East.

Phillies starter Aaron Nola struggled through five innings as he allowed five hits and five runs. Nola struck out seven and walked three.

Mauricio Llovera (1-0) earned the win in relief while Archie Bradley picked up his second save in four opportunities despite allowing one run.

Josh Bell homered, singled twice and drove in three runs for the Nationals.

Carter Kieboom added two hits and Juan Soto had a double, single and two walks for the Nationals.

Nationals starter Joe Ross tossed 6 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and three runs with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Finnegan (4-3) took the loss.

The Phillies jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Ronald Torreyes hit an RBI single.

In the third, Harper crushed a 427-foot homer to center for a 2-0 Phillies lead. It was the 250th home run of Harper's career.

Soto walked to open the fourth for Washington. Bell followed with a single and Soto advanced to third. Yadiel Hernandez struck out looking, but Kieboom then came through with an RBI single to close within 2-1. Tres Barrera soon was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game at 2.

Bell blasted a three-run homer in the fifth for a 5-2 Nationals lead.

Didi Gregorius hit what appeared to be a solo homer in the seventh, but Soto jumped and caught the ball over the fence. After Alec Bohm doubled, Herrera followed with an RBI single to cut the deficit to 5-3. Realmuto flied out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
