Hunter Renfroe had a homer and four RBIs, and Eric Hosmer, Manuel Margot and rookie Luis Urias added three hits apiece Wednesday afternoon as the host San Diego Padres defeated the Seattle Mariners 8-3 to sweep a two-game interleague series at Petco Park.
Padres rookie Joey Lucchesi (7-7) allowed one run on six hits and two walks with nine strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings.
Margot fell a triple shy of the cycle as the Padres had 13 hits off Seattle starter Erasmo Ramirez (1-3) and reliever Roenis Elias.
The Padres scored two in the first, one in the second and four in the third after spotting the Mariners a 1-0 lead in the top of the first -- when Jean Segura singled, stole second and scored on a single to right by Robinson Cano.
The Padres took the lead for good in the bottom of the first. Freddy Galvis hit a leadoff single and moved to second when Wil Myers drew a one-out walk. Galvis scored on Hosmer's single and Myers moved to third, from where he scored on Renfroe's sacrifice fly.
Margot hit his seventh homer of the season -- a 413-foot shot into the second deck in left -- with one out in the second to up the Padres' lead to 3-1.
San Diego then broke the game open in the third with four runs on six hits against Ramirez.
Urias opened the inning with an opposite-field single to right for his first major league hit. Hosmer doubled with one out, and Renfroe followed with a three-run homer to left, his 17th of the year.
Austin Hedges, Franmil Reyes and Margot followed with three consecutive singles. Lucchesi then hit a sacrifice fly to center for the first RBI of his career.
San Diego's final run came on a Margot RBI double in the fifth off Elias, who allowed one run on four hits and two walks over five innings. Ramirez gave up seven runs on nine hits and a walk with two strikeouts in three innings.
Seattle scored two runs in the top of the eighth against reliever Colten Brewer on a run-scoring single by Nelson Cruz and an RBI double by Kyle Seager.
