Mike Moustakas homered and Danny Duffy threw six strong innings to lead the visiting Kansas City Royals past the Milwaukee Brewers 5-4 Wednesday at Miller Park.

Milwaukee's Brad Miller hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning to get the Brewers within one with no outs. Royals reliever Wily Peralta came in, recorded a strikeout and after a pinch-hit single by Erik Kratz got Ryan Braun to ground into a game-ending double play.

Duffy allowed one run on five hits, with seven strikeouts and two walks to improve to 4-7 on the season.

Milwaukee breakout star Jesus Aguilar smacked his seventh home run in his last 10 games for the Brewers, who have lost three of four. Aguilar has 18 home runs on the season.

The Royals, who had lost 12 of 14 entering Wednesday afternoon's tilt, mounted little offense against Milwaukee starter Brent Suter until the seventh inning.

Trailing 1-0 after a solo shot from Aguilar, the Royals scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning, knocking out Suter in the process.

The southpaw Suter cruised into the seventh, barely being threatened, but didn't record an out in the inning as the first four Royals reached base. Moustakas led off the inning with his 15th home run of the season, Adalberto Mondesi had a two-run single off reliever Josh Hader, and Lucas Duda (sacrifice fly) and Whit Merrifield (single) each drove in runs to give Kansas City a 5-1 lead.

Suter was charged with four runs. He allowed six hits, striking out six and walking one in six-plus innings of work. Suter (8-5) had won his last three starts.

Milwaukee mounted a threat in the eighth inning and had runners on first and second with one out, but Royals reliever Kevin McCarthy got Hernan Perez to ground out into an inning-ending double play.

The Royals now head to Seattle to open a three-game series with the Mariners on Friday.

The Brewers begin a four-game series at Cincinnati on Thursday.
