The Reds mounted the comeback against left-hander Sam Freeman (2-4) and scored all three runs with two outs. Scooter Gennett drove in the first run with a single and Duvall, after Dan Winkler replaced Freeman, put Cincinnati ahead with a two-run single to right field.

The winning pitcher was Jackson Stephens (2-0), who struck out two in 1 2/3 innings. David Hernandez, Jared Hughes and Raisel Iglesias each added one shutout inning to complete the win. Iglesias picked up his 15th save.

Cincinnati won two of three in the series and has won nine of its last 10 games. The Reds improved to 31-31 since Jim Riggleman became manager on April 19.

Cincinnati starter Luis Castillo began the game by retiring the first 11 batters he faced. He then allowed six straight base runners with two outs in the fourth. Castillo gave up five runs, four earned, in four innings.

Atlanta starter Sean Newcomb worked six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out six.

The Reds scored single runs in the second on an RBI single from Billy Hamilton and in the third on Jose Peraza's solo homer, his third.

The Braves took a 4-2 lead in the fourth. Kurt Suzuki, Charlie Culberson, Johan Camargo and Dansby Swanson each had consecutive RBI singles.

Cincinnati scored in the fifth on Brandon Dixon's RBI single, only to have the Braves get it back in the bottom of the inning when Ender Inciarte scored on third baseman Eugenio Suarez's throwing error.

The Reds played most of the game without first baseman Joey Votto. The veteran was ejected in the first inning after complaining about a called third strike.

The Braves made a roster move on Wednesday, placing rookie pitcher Mike Soroka on the 60-day disabled list. The right-hander was shut down after his last start due to shoulder soreness. Atlanta recalled right-hander Wes Parsons from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned righty Matt Wisler to Gwinnett. Parsons is 4-3 with a 2.10 ERA in 14 games, 13 starts between two minor league levels.
