The victory was similar to a 5-4 Marlins win over the Giants last Wednesday in Miami, a game in which Miami's Caleb Smith and San Francisco's Andrew Suarez also were the starting pitchers.

Down 4-2, Brian Anderson led off the ninth by drawing a walk from Giants closer Hunter Strickland (3-3). J.T. Realmuto followed with a double, plating Anderson to get Miami within one.

Strickland then walked Justin Bour to put the potential tying and go-ahead runs on base, and both scored one out later on consecutive RBI singles by Lewis Brinson and Rojas.

Miami's Kyle Barraclough recorded his sixth save of the season with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth. Tayron Guerrero (1-2), who pitched a scoreless eighth inning, was credited with the win.

The Giants appeared headed to a win after Pablo Sandoval capped a three-run second inning with a two-run home run and Suarez outdueled Smith in their rematch.

Suarez, who also left last week's game with a lead, allowed just two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings this time around. He walked one and struck out seven.

The Giants got to Smith early when Buster Posey led off the second with a double. He scored one out later on a single by Joe Panik, after which Sandoval launched a homer to left field for a 3-0 lead.

The home run was Sandoval's sixth of the season and just the 20th of his career when batting right-handed. The switch hitter has 111 career homers hitting left-handed.

The Giants added a fourth run in the third when Andrew McCutchen walked, advanced on an infield single by Posey and scored on Mac Williamson's single.

Smith was pulled after four innings, having allowed four runs and six hits. He walked two and struck out four.

The Marlins trimmed their deficit in half in the fifth when a single by Cameron Maybin and double by Brinson set the stage for a two-run single by Rojas.

Rojas had two hits and three RBIs for the Marlins, who have won six of their last eight. They beat the Giants three of four in last week. Brinson and Yadiel Rivera also had two hits each, while Maybin scored twice, helping Miami improve to 3-1 on its nine-game trip.

Posey collected two hits for the Giants, who were opening a 10-game homestand.
