Hunter Renfroe started the game-winning rally by hitting a two-out, pinch-hit double off right-handed reliever Drew Rucinski. After Rucinski intentionally walked Raffy Lopez, Matt Szczur drew a walk to load the bases for Jankowski, who pulled a single into right to score Renfroe.

Padres reliever Craig Stammen (4-0) picked up the win with Kirby Yates getting his second save by retiring the last two Marlins with the tying run on second. The Padres had used closer Brad Hand to pitch the eighth against the heart of the Marlins order.

Rucinski (1-1) took the loss.

The Padres took a 3-0 lead in the first and made it 4-1 in the fourth on Freddy Galvis' third homer of the season.

Right-hander Dan Straily gave up the Padres' first four runs, and it could have been more.

Jankowski opened the game with a single but was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double. Four of the next five Padres got hits.

The second hit off Straily was particularly painful for the Marlins starter. Eric Hosmer lined a shot back to the mound that caught Straily in the rib cage.

Straily stayed in the game and gave up a second straight single to Jose Pirela. After rookie Franmil Reyes struck out, Cory Spangenberg singled home Hosmer and Pirela scored on a passed ball. Galvis then doubled home Spangenberg.

Starlin Castro doubled off Padres starter Tyson Ross with two out in the third and scored on Derek Dietrich's single.

Dietrich then homered leading off the sixth against Ross to trigger a game-tying, three-run rally. Justin Bour doubled with one out, moved to third on Bryan Anderson's single and scored on a wild pitch from Stammen shortly after he replaced Ross.

With two out, Miguel Rojas hit a grounder back up the middle that ticked off Pirela's glove. Rojas was credited with a single with the tying run scoring on Pirela's error.

Ross allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Straily allowed four runs on nine hits and no walks with four strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings.
