Cardinals 7, Giants 1: Adam Wainwright pitched a complete game as host St. Louis completed the doubleheader sweep.

Carlos Beltran and Ty Wigginton each had two hits and two RBIs, and Wainwright (8-3) scattered eight hits, struck out 10 and didn't walk a batter as St. Louis limited San Francisco to one run in the two games. Wainwright also doubled and scored a run in the three-run third inning.

Giants starter Madison Bumgarner (4-4) went six innings, allowing five runs and six hits to fall to 1-4 in his last nine starts. Andres Torres had an RBI single in the seventh inning to end a streak of 16 consecutive scoreless innings for San Francisco.

Pete Kozma walked with one out in the third and Wainwright put runners on second and third with his double to center. Kozma scored on a fielder’s choice and Wainwright and Jon Jay came home on Beltran’s single for a 3-0 lead.

Bumgarner retired the side in order in the fourth and fifth innings, but got into trouble again in the sixth when David Freese led off with a double, Wigginton followed with a single and Daniel Descalso’s single brought home Freese. Shane Robinson made it 5-0 with a sacrifice fly to center.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Cardinals C Yadier Molina batted second for just the eighth time in 1,135 career games. He went 1-for-4 with a run scored. … The Giants have been outscored 44-8 in the first three innings of their last 10 road games. … Wainwright has 84 strikeouts and six walks in 89 innings this season.
