Reds 6, Brewers 2: Brandon Phillips drove in three runs and Mike Leake tossed 8 1/3 solid innings as visiting Cincinnati salvaged the finale of the three-game series.

Jay Bruce matched Phillips with a pair of hits while also driving in two runs. Shin-Soo Choo collected three hits and scored twice for the Reds, who snapped a three-game losing skid by winning for the first time in six contests at Miller Park.

Mired in a 3-for-23 stretch over his previous six games, Phillips set the tone in the first inning by depositing a 1-0 fastball from rookie Johnny Hellweg (0-3) into left field for an RBI single. After the teams traded sacrifice flies, the All-Star second baseman gave Cincinnati a 3-1 lead in the third by plating Zack Cozart with a run-scoring groundout.

Phillips extended the Reds' advantage to 5-2 in the seventh inning as his RBI single plated Choo for the second time in the contest. Bruce promptly followed with an RBI single to essentially put the game away.

After yielding four runs in each of his last two starts, Leake (8-4) overcame Sean Halton's first career homer in the fifth inning before breezing into the ninth. The 25-year-old right-hander exited after allowing four hits and Aroldis Chapman recorded the final two outs to end the contest.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Milwaukee failed in its bid to record its first sweep since taking three straight from National League Central rival Chicago on April 19-21. ... Cincinnati LF Chris Heisey sat out the contest, one day removed from leaving Tuesday's game after being hit by a pitch on the elbow. LF Xavier Paul played in his place and went 1-for-3. ... The Reds will conclude the first half of their season by beginning a four-game series with Atlanta on Thursday. Milwaukee will do the same when it opens a four-game road set with Arizona on Thursday.
