Pirates 5, Diamondbacks 3:
Andrew McCutchen and Travis Snider had two RBIs apiece as visiting Pittsburgh ended a four-game losing streak with its biggest offensive outburst of the season.

Garrett Jones gave the Pirates a 5-3 lead with a solo home run in the eighth inning, and relievers Justin Wilson, Mark Melancon and Jason Grilli did not allow a hit while facing the minimum over five innings. The victory also snapped Arizona’s four-game winning streak.

The Pirates, who had combined for eight runs in the first six games, scored three in the first inning on Andrew McCutchen's RBI double that plated Starling Marte and a two-run single by Snider. The Diamondbacks scored a run in the second on a two-out single by Wil Nieves and tied the score with two runs in the third.

Pirates starter Wandy Rodriguez left with one out in the third after experiencing tightness in his left hamstring. Jeanmar Gomez (1-0) replaced him and gave up a sacrifice fly to Paul Goldschmidt and an RBI single to Alfredo Marte, his first base hit in the major leagues.

Starling Marte and McCutchen, the only Pirates hitting better than .154 coming into the game, teamed up again in the fifth to give Pittsburgh a 4-3 lead. Marte tripled with one out off Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill (0-2) and came home on McCutchen’s sacrifice fly to right.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Starling Marte has singled to start the last three games. … Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez struck out twice and leads the NL with 12. … Cahill allowed four hits and four runs in five innings, striking out seven and walking three.
