Diamondbacks 6, Cardinals 2: Ian Kennedy pitched seven strong innings and rookie A.J. Pollock had three hits, including a two-run double, as host Arizona won its seventh straight Opening Day game.

Gerardo Parra had three doubles among his four hits, while Jason Kubel and Martin Prado, making his Diamondbacks debut, contributed RBI doubles for
Arizona, which totaled 15 hits - seven doubles. Kennedy (1-0) allowed two runs, five hits and struck out eight.

Matt Holliday had an RBI double and Daniel Descalso added a run-scoring single for the Cardinals, who lost their third straight opener and sixth in the last seven years. Adam Wainwright (0-1) allowed four runs (three earned), 11 hits and struck out six in six innings.

Arizona touched Wainwright for three runs on four consecutive hits in the fourth inning. After Miguel Montero and Paul Goldschmidt singled, Kubel delivered an RBI double into the right-center field gap and Pollock's two-run double just eluded diving center fielder Jon Jay.

Descalso drove in Yadier Molina with a two-out hit in the seventh inning to make it 4-2 before he was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Arizona added
two runs in the seventh on back-to-back doubles by Parra and Prado and a sacrifice fly by Montero.
