Padres 6, Giants 5:
Logan Forsythe led off the bottom of the ninth inning with his first career home run as San Diego snapped San Francisco's four-game winning streak.

The Giants loaded the bases in the top of the ninth against Padres closer Huston Street (1-0), who escaped the jam by getting Buster Posey to ground out to end the inning.

Steve Edlefsen (0-1) took the loss after Forsythe ripped the second pitch of the inning to deep left field.

Carlos Quentin hit two home runs - including one to tie the game at 5-5 in the eighth - for the Padres, who grabbed an early lead with a three-run second inning. Giants starter Tim Lincecum, who remained winless in his last seven starts, gave up four runs while striking out eight over six innings.

Quentin is 12-for-23 with five homers and nine RBIs in six games since making his season debut May 28 after recovering from knee surgery.

Gregor Blanco and Ryan Theriot had three hits apiece for the Giants, who cut into the Padres’ lead with Theriot’s RBI single in the third and three runs in the sixth.

Theriot singled in the go-ahead run in the seventh inning before Quentin answered in the eighth with a one-out homer off Jeremy Affeldt.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Giants outfielder Angel Pagan went 2-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Pagan is the first Giants player with three hit streaks of at least 10 games since Randy Winn in 2007. … Theriot recorded his second three-hit game in his last five games. … The Padres won for only the third time in 32 games when trailing after seven innings.
