San Francisco scored seven runs in the first two innings to move within two games of visiting first-place Los Angeles.

Barry Zito (6-5) gave up three hits over seven innings for his first win over the Dodgers in his last nine starts.

Pablo Sandoval doubled twice and drove in three runs for the Giants, who out-hit the Dodgers 14-4 and jumped on starter Nathan Eovaldi (0-4) for eight runs on 11 hits in five innings.

The Giants scored four runs in the first when Angel Pagan doubled in a run and scored on Sandoval’s two-run double. Hector Sanchez added an RBI single, scoring Sandoval.

Zito, who allowed 17 runs over 14 1/3 innings in losing his last three starts, improved to 117-7 in his career with at least four runs of support.
