Diamondbacks 5, Dodgers 3: Jason Kubel homered and Gerardo Parra sparked a comeback with a two-run double as host Arizona beat Los Angeles for the second straight night.

Diamondbacks starter Trevor Cahill (8-8) allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings, striking out six and walking one.

Stephen Drew and Paul Goldschmidt added sacrifice flies as Arizona erased an early two-run deficit for the second straight game.

David Hernandez tossed a scoreless eighth before J.J. Putz closed it out for his 16th save to pull the Diamondbacks within five games of the National League West-leading Dodgers.

Chad Billingsley (4-9) lost his fifth consecutive start, giving up four runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out five and didn't walk a batter.

Jerry Hairston Jr. belted a two-run homer and A.J. Ellis had three hits and a solo blast for the Dodgers, who maintained their half-game edge over San Francisco in the West.

Kubel provided Arizona with an insurance run in the eighth, swatting his fourth homer in the last seven games.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Billingsley registered his 1,000th career strikeout when he fanned Cahill in the third inning. ... Parra extended his hitting streak to five games and had his first double in 24 games. ... Ellis homered for the first time since June 3 and had his first three-hit game since Sept. 18, 2010. ...
