Braves 8, Diamondbacks 1: Tim Hudson threw eight sensational innings and Freddie Freeman posted three hits as Atlanta opened a 10-game homestand with a convincing victory.

Michael Bourn homered leading off the bottom of the first to set the tone offensively for the Braves, who pounded out 17 hits in snapping Arizona's four-game winning streak.

Hudson (6-3) won for the third time in his past four starts, and Atlanta gave him plenty of early support. Bourn’s seventh homer of the season in the first staked Hudson and the Braves to a 1-0 advantage.

Atlanta took control with a four-run second. Freeman’s double to left scored Chipper Jones. Andrelton Simmons brought home Freeman with a single, and Simmons scored on Jason Heyward’s sacrifice fly. Brian McCann scored Bourn with a single to center, putting the Braves ahead 5-0.

Hudson gave up a solo homer to Jason Kubel in the third, but little else. The Atlanta right-hander allowed seven hits with one walk and seven strikeouts, improving to 7-0 lifetime against Arizona.

Arizona starter Daniel Hudson (3-2) allowed seven hits and five runs in 1 2/3 innings before leaving with tightness in his right forearm. He is headed back to Phoenix to undergo an MRI exam on Wednesday.

Jones finished with three hits while Simmons, Bourn, McCann, Heyward and Martin Prado each collected two hits for Atlanta.

Arizona’s Miguel Montero went 2-for-3 for the Diamondbacks.
