Braves 9, Cardinals 7 (12):
Jason Heyward belted a two-run homer in the 12th inning as visiting Atlanta ended St. Louis' four-game winning streak with its fifth victory in seven outings.

Carlos Beltran homered twice among his four hits for the Cardinals, who honored former manager Tony La Russa prior to the game by retiring his No. 10. La Russa was at the helm in St. Louis for 16 seasons, guiding the club to a World Series title in 2011 before announcing his retirement.

After Chipper Jones led off the 12th inning with a walk, Heyward deposited a fastball from Kyle McClellan (0-1) over the wall in center field for his fifth homer of the season.

Livan Hernandez (1-0) picked up the win despite walking four in two innings. Craig Kimbrel struck out a pair in the 12th for his 11th save.

After launching a solo homer in the fourth inning to cut Atlanta's lead to 5-2, Beltran led off the eighth his fifth blast in four contests to tie the game at 7-7. The blasts marked Beltran's third multi-homer game in 10 days.

Dan Uggla homered and Brian McCann and rookie Tyler Pastornicky ripped RBI doubles for the Braves.

GAME NOTEBOOK: A giant "10" was cut in the grass in short center field in tribute to La Russa. ... Allen Craig belted his fourth homer since returning from the disabled list. ...
