Guillermo Moscoso pitched two-hit ball over seven innings and Scott Sizemore drove in both runs as the Oakland Athletics defeated the visiting Seattle Mariners 2-0 on Wednesday.

Moscoso (3-4) struck out five and walked one as the Athletics salvaged the finale of the three-game series and halted Seattle’s three-game winning streak in a game that lasted just two hours, 12 minutes.

Sizemore homered with one out in the the first and singled in Cliff Pennington in the fifth as Oakland won for just the fifth time in 14 games.

Joey Devine pitched a perfect eighth and Andrew Bailey retired the side in order in the ninth for his eighth save in nine opportunities.

Dustin Ackley’s one-out single in the second and leadoff single in the seventh were the only two hits off Moscoso, who also pitched seven innings of two-hit shutout ball against Philadelphia on June 24.

Seattle starter Jason Vargas (6-6) went the distance and gave up two runs and five hits. Vargas struck out six and walked one.
