Colby Lewis pitched a five-hitter for his first career shutout as the visiting Texas Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox 4-0 on Monday night.

Lewis (4-4) walked one and struck out seven, and allowed only one Chicago runner past first base before the ninth inning. He needed 110 pitches to earn his second complete game of the season.

The Rangers, who began the night a half-game behind Los Angeles in the American League West, supplied Lewis with all the necessary offense in the third when Michael Young doubled home a run and scored on a base hit by Adrian Beltre.

Ian Kinsler added a two-run single with one out in the sixth to chase White Sox starter Edwin Jackson (3-5), who gave up 11 hits and three walks en route to his fifth loss in his last six starts.
