Mark Teixeira and Jorge Posada homered as the New York Yankees secured a 5-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday, the fourth consecutive series victory for the Yankees, which is the most they’ve had since 1926.

Yankees starter Andy Pettitte (2-0) went eight strong innings, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Mariano Rivera earned the save with a scoreless ninth.

New York took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Robinson Cano.

The Rangers answered in the third when Elvis Andrus had a run-scoring double and Michael Young followed with an RBI single to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Teixeira led off with a solo home run and, later in the inning, Ramiro Pena had a two-run single to give the Yankees a 4-2 lead. Posada then added a solo home run in the seventh.

Texas starter Rich Harden (0-1) had his second frustrating start this season, needing 94 pitches over 3 2/3 innings. He allowed four runs on five hits with six walks.
